Welcome to USA Hockey-MeiGray Group’s 2009 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship Team USA Jersey Auction!

The 2009 IIHF World Junior Championship took place in Ottawa, Ontario from December 26, 2008 through January 5, 2009. The United States National Junior Team finished fifth after James van Riemsdyk scored in overtime to lift Team USA to a 3-2 victory over the Czech Republic at ScotiaBank Place.

Jordan Schroeder tied for third in points in the tournament with 11. James van Riemsdyk finished tied for third in goals with 6. Jordan Schroeder registered his 15th World Junior Championship career assist, placing him first in the U.S. record book. James van Riemsdyk finished his career in World Junior Championship play second all-time in the U.S. record book in both points (12-10--22) and goals (12).

There was one set of white jerseys manufactured by Nike and prepared for use by the U.S. National Men’s Team in the 2009 IIHF World Junior Championship. Each jersey was barcoded before the tournament. The set of jerseys was collected after each game by Team USA’s equipment staff. Each jersey offered in auction will be security-tagged with an individually serial-numbered USA Hockey-MeiGray Authentication Program inventory tag.

 

These white jerseys were worn in three games during the tournament.

 

  • On December 26, 2008, the United States opened the 33rd annual IIHF World Junior Championship with an 8-2 victory over Germany. Jordan Schroeder scored a goal and three assists, while James van Riemsdyk and Drayson Bowman each registerd a pair of goals. Bowman was named Team USA’s Player of the Game.
  • On December 28, 2008, the United States defeated the Czech Republic, 4-3. Jordan Schroeder notched two goals and an assist and Kevin Shattenkirk added two assists. Schroeder was named Team USA’s Player of the Game.
  • On December 31, 2008, the United States team fell to Canada, 7-4. Shattenkirk, Hayes, O’Brien and Blum scored for Team USA.

Proceeds will benefit the USA Hockey Foundation.

This auction is for the actual white jersey; size 60, worn by #7, Aaron Palushaj.  Aaron Palushaj is currently the property of the Montreal Canadiens.

The U.S. National Junior Team wore its set of blue jerseys, which was awarded to the players for their participation by USA Hockey, in 3 games: The 12-0 victory over Kazakhstan on Dec. 30, 2008; the 5-3 loss to Slovakia on Jan. 2, 2009 in the quarterfinals; and the 3-2 overtime victory over the Czech Republic on Jan. 4, 2010 in the fifth-place game.
