Retained by the team and tucked away for a few years now the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation is proud to release this amazing set of jerseys worn by the Oilers for game number five (June 14-2006) and seven (June 19-2006) of the 2006 Stanley Cup Finals vs the Carolina Hurricanes. Game number five saw the Oilers win 4-3 in dramatic fashion thanks to Fernando Pisani's short-handed break away goal vs Cam Ward in over-time! These road white RBK made Oilers jerseys feature the 2006 Stanley Cup Final Patch on the right chest and include both an Edmonton Oilers "Stanley Cup Finals" team set tag and an NHL / MeiGray Group Game-Worn Jersey Inventory tag (#C03877) sewn into the inside bottom hem. Tagging inside the collar includes an RBK NHL Center Ice Authentic label, a Made in Canada Size 56 tag and finally a label from the jersey cresting company Elite Sportswear. This particular jersey was worn by Oilers forward Ryan Smyth and is crested with his #94 and surname on the back as well as the Assistant Captain's "A" on the left chest. As is to be expected the game wear should be light considering the jersey was only worn for the two games but on this one is very evident and very easy to spot! It includes a bunch of scattered stick marks, board burns and other game related marks on the front, back, crest and sleeves of the jersey. Of note there is a dark stick mark across the Oilers crest that is photo matched to game seven of the series. And like all good Smytty gamers there is at least one small hole on the right sleeve! For a Stanley Cup Finals jersey this one is hammered so to speak when compared to others from the set but it should come as no surprise based on Ryan's front of the net play! In addition to the set tag certification mentioned above the jersey also comes complete with a Letter of Authenticity from the Edmonton Oilers Hockey Club. Stanley Cup Finals game worn jerseys are extremely difficult to obtain and are amongst the most cherished and sought after by jersey collectors.
