On November 7, 2009, two days before Brett Hull, Lou Lamoriello, Brian Leetch, Luc Robitaille and Steve Yzerman were inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, the Toronto Maple Leafs played host to the Detroit Red Wings in the 10th Annual Hockey Hall of Fame Game at Air Canada Centre in Toronto. The Maple Leafs defeated the Red Wings, 5-1, to earn their first home-ice win of the 2009-10 NHL season.

One game-worn 2009 HHOF Game jersey, Matt Stajan’s worn in the first period, was donated by the Leafs and MGG to the Hockey Hall of Fame. Each of the other 24 HHOF Game jerseys, 20 that were game worn and 4 that were prepared for players who did not dress for the HHOF Game, is now up for bid.
Each was authenticated by a Toronto Maple Leafs-MGG Game-Worn Jersey Authentication Program director in the dressing room immediately after the game ended. Each jersey had been security-tagged, serial-numbered, and registered into the Toronto Maple Leafs-MGG Program before the game.
