Item Description:

You are bidding on Lot #10 from Frozen Pond's "Artifacts of Maple Leaf Gardens" auction. This is the original commemorative banner raised to the ceiling of historic Maple Leaf Gardens in honor of Tim Horton. This banner was raised on November 21, 1995, during a special ceremony commemorating Horton's achievements. It measures 15’ X 6.6’ in size and comes with the original MLG Letter of Authenticity. Unique relics such as this are rarely made available. Bid now, bid often!

The Artifacts of Maple Leaf Gardens

The Toronto Maple Leafs played the last game in their longtime home on February 13, 1999. On November 19, 2000, the team disassembled and sold off their history in a major auction of historical significance – the original Maple Leaf Gardens Auction. Rarely are the contents of a landmark building offered for public sale, particularly one of such importance to its city.

A number of items were purchased that day by collectors and have remained in private hands ever since. Now they are being offered to the mass populace once again. Items include such iconic keepsakes as the 1967 Stanley Cup banner, as well as Bill Barilko’s #5 and Tim Horton’s #7 banners, all of which hung from the rafters of the Gardens. Several huge (and heavy) Stanley Cup photo collages that graced the walls of the hallways are also up for bid. Honored Member photos from the dressing room, the penalty benches, vintage team roster plaques, framed photos, and even the locker room toilet are available to the highest bidder.

This is a rare opportunity to own a piece of Toronto sports history. Most items still have their original Maple Leaf Gardens Auction hang tags, and all items will come with their original MLG Auction Letters of Authenticity.

PAYMENT:
All bidding done in U.S. Funds. No buyer's premium. What you bid is what you pay (shipping extra).

Bids are to be placed online only. Please place your bids early as we will be unable to enter bids on your behalf once the auction has closed.

Payment is due within 14 days of notification of winning bid. Methods of acceptable payment are personal checks, money orders, cash, bank drafts, PayPal, Visa, MC, or Amex. Frozen Pond reserves the right to charge the buyer's credit card any balance remaining on the purchaser's auction invoice 30 days after the date of notification. Buyer agrees to pay all of Frozen Pond's costs, including legal fees, incurred in attempting to collect any sums due to Frozen Pond from the buyer.

All final $US amounts are converted to $CDN before being charged. The conversion rate is determined by the affiliated bank on the day payment is processed.

All shipping prices listed are for UPS Shipping. Regular mail shipping also available.
Winning bidders are responsible for all shipping and handling costs, as well as any brokerage or duty fees that may arise. Please keep this in mind when bidding, since transportation costs on oversized and heavy items may be excessive. Most items will be shipped via UPS ground service. Insurance is the responsibility of the buyer, as Frozen Pond assumes no responsibility for items damaged in transit. Canadian residents must add appropriate taxes to their totals, including on shipping. All items will be accompanied by a 10-day return policy which is only valid if the description of the item was not proper.
