This set of Los Angeles Kings game-worn jerseys was 45 years in the making.

On January 19, 2013, prior to the opening of the 2013 NHL regular season, the Los Angeles Kings celebrated their first Stanley Cup championship in franchise history by raising their Stanley Cup banner to the roof of STAPLES Center.

Continuing a new NHL tradition introduced one season earlier by the Boston Bruins, the Kings highlighted this special day and opened defense of their Stanley Cup vs. the Chicago Blackhawks by wearing a special set of game-worn jerseys for this game only with a Banner Raising Celebration patch that replicated the banner raised to the roof.

Each jersey is security-tagged, and has been authenticated by a Kings-MGG Program Director.  

Additionally, every jersey worn throughout the 2012-13 NHL season by the Kings contains a uniquely numbered inventory tag sewn into the jersey BEFORE IT IS WORN BY THE PLAYER ON THE ICE. This tag is equipped with covert security features regularly checked by Kings-MGG Program Directors so we can tell who wore the jersey, and when.
