Welcome to the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation 2012 Christmas Charity Online Auction in support of the Christmas Bureau of Edmonton and charities across Oil Country ! Show your support by bidding on this Glenn Anderson #9 - Edmonton Oilers Jersey Retirement Night Commemorative Silver Puck & Mini Banner! On January 18th, 2009 the Edmonton Oilers honored Glenn Anderson and his remarkable NHL career by retiring his number nine jersey to the rafters of Rexall Place. The emotional pre-game ceremony was attended by all six legends who had their jersey retired previously plus a record number of Oilers Alumni for any banner raising ceremony! Following the tradition started during Wayne Gretzky's retirement ceremony and those that have followed since an extremely limited number of silver commemorative pucks were commissioned by the Edmonton Oilers Hockey Club and given out to VIP Guests of the event by both Glenn Anderson and the hockey club. Available in this lot is one of those fantastic silver pucks along with a mini banner. The puck is engraved on one side with the words Edmonton Oilers Honour Glenn Anderson January 18, 2009" along with the Oilers logo and Anderson's famous and now retired #9. This very unique collectible will be one to cherish for many years to come from this great night in Oilers history!
