To commemorate the 10th Anniversary of Hockey Fights Cancer, the National Hockey League Players' Association and the National Hockey League are conducting a unique auction of game-worn jerseys with proceeds benefiting Hockey Fights Cancer.
We are proud to offer fans and collectors across the globe the opportunity to own a piece of history … the actual jersey worn by #5, Nicklas Lidstrom of the Detroit Red Wings.
Everyone knows someone who has been touched by cancer. Our hockey family is no exception. Hockey Fights Cancer is a joint initiative founded in December 1998 by the National Hockey League Players' Association and the National Hockey League to raise money and awareness for hockey’s most important fight. The 2007-08 season marks the 10th Anniversary of Hockey Fights Cancer. Hockey Fights Cancer is supported by NHL Member Clubs, NHL Alumni, the NHL Officials' Association, Professional Hockey Trainers and Equipment Managers, corporate marketing partners, broadcast partners and fans throughout North America. To date, Hockey Fights Cancer has raised more than $9.5 million.
During the weekend of January 11-13, 2008, the hockey community joined forces once again to support Hockey Fights Cancer. As part of this important initiative, a special jersey featuring a commemorative Hockey Fights Cancer patch was worn and signed by the captains of all 30 NHL Member Clubs to underscore their team’s pledge to fight cancer.
This road white Detroit Red Wings jersey, registered into the MeiGray Game-Worn Jersey Authentication Program as number E05904, was worn by Nicklas Lidstrom during the Red Wings' game on Saturday, January 12, 2008. It was then autographed by Lidstrom. This jersey is a Size 56.
On behalf of the NHL, NHLPA and Hockey Fights Cancer we would like to thank you for your generous participation and support of this worthy cause.
