The original mandate of the Flames ownership group 30 years ago, and the one that’s still prominent today, is to ensure that the Calgary Flames have a positive impact on the quality of life in southern Alberta. Through a variety of initiatives, the Calgary Flames have donated over $32 million dollars to worthy causes and projects. In 1998, the Calgary Flames announced the creation of the Flames Foundation. It would be the charitable arm of the hockey club. Since then many more millions of dollars have been raised. During the 2005-06 season, in conjunction with the 25th anniversary of NHL hockey in Calgary, the Calgary Flames built on this tradition by re-naming it the Flames Foundation for Life. Since then the Flames Foundation for Life has focused its support amongst Four Pillars of Investment: The Rotary Flames House, the Rotary Flames Park, the REACH! initiative for medical advancement as well as Amateur and Grassroots Sports.
