Description

The Carolina Hurricanes GAME WORN Dan Ellis #31 Jersey (2012-2013 season, 2nd set) comes with a certificate of authenticity. It is a white jersey, size 58 Goalie Cut. Ellis spent three years playing at the University of Nebraska at Omaha before being drafted in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft by the Dallas Stars in the 2nd round (60th overall). In the 2003-2004 season, he split time between the Utah Grizzlies and Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL. He led the Steelheads to a Kelly Cup Championship win and nabbed the 2004 Playoff MVP award with a record of 13-0 and a 1.86 goals-against average. He made his NHL debut on February 8, 2004 with Dallas and made 25 saves for his first career win against the Los Angeles Kings. He spent the 2005-2006 season in the AHL with the Iowa Stars. In 2007, Ellis signed as a free agent with the Nashville Predators. He took over the starting goaltending duties for the Predators during the 2007-2008 season leading the Predators to the playoffs. After an impressive career with the Predators, Ellis signed a two-year deal with the Tampa Bay Lightning as a free agent in July of 2010. In February of the following year, Ellis was traded to the Anaheim Ducks and then signed with the Carolina Hurricanes in January of 2013 as a backup to starter Cam Ward. On July 5, 2013 after a one-year stint in Carolina, Ellis re-joined his original draft team the Dallas Stars, on a two-year deal to be the back-up goalie to Kari Lehtonen. March 5, 2014, Ellis was traded to the Florida Panthers in return for goalie Tim Thomas.
