The Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation will host an auction of specialty Pittsburgh Penguins jerseys created in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. The jerseys feature green, orange and white accents to mimic the national flag of Ireland, the player’s last name in Gaelic on the nameplate, shamrock patches, as well as patches displaying the Irish flag and United States of America’s flag. The winner of this auction will also receive a card with the player’s name written in calligraphy and a description of what his first and last name mean.
The St. Patrick’s Day jerseys are autographed, and were worn during the team’s March 14 pre-game warm-ups. Proceeds from this auction will benefit the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation and Mario Lemieux Foundation.
The Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation’s St. Patrick’s Day jersey auction will end on Monday, March 30 at 7:00 pm EST.
